Melton Night Market: A Celebration of Diversity

Ignite your senses at the City of Melton's vibrant Melton Night Market! Across three unforgettable nights, immerse yourself in flavours, rhythms and traditions inspired by Asia, Europe and Oceania. Each evening offers a unique journey, celebrating our cultural diversity and the shared joy of community.

Wander through a dazzling array of market stalls brimming with mouthwatering cuisines, handcrafted treasures and one-of-a-kind goods. Savour the tastes of global street food and connect with local makers and vendors.

The night will come alive with live music and traditional performances to delight audiences of all ages. Whether you’re sampling new flavours, dancing to world rhythms, or simply soaking up the festive atmosphere, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Join us on the first Friday of February, March and April, 5pm to 9pm at Melton Town Centre.

Experience the spirit of the Pacific at the Oceania Night Market! Join us for an evening filled with powerful performances, cultural traditions, and vibrant island energy. From the pulsating rhythms of Cook Island drumming to the captivating movements of Samoan and Maori dance, this is a celebration not to be missed.

Main Stage Performances

MC: Sikivi Tafea – PICAA Dance/Music Director & Creative Associate
Steve is a passionate performer with deep roots in the Pacific arts. With extensive experience in theatre, band music, choreography, and MC hosting, he brings a unique energy, blending culture and community on stage.

5:15 PM : Victorious Youth Ministry
A dynamic group of Pasifika youth dedicated to celebrating faith, culture, and music. Their vibrant performance showcases contemporary and traditional dances, alongside live music from their talented band.

6:00 PM : Tama Tatau – Samoan
An electrifying Samoan performance filled with high-energy movements and crowd interaction, bringing the true spirit of the islands to life.

6:30 PM : Sounds of Polynesia
Immerse yourself in the lively sounds of the Cook Islands with energetic log drumming and mesmerizing hula dances, performed by this Melbourne-based group.

7:00 PM : Maidens of Polynesia Dance Group
A stunning showcase of Polynesian culture through Fijian, Tongan, and Samoan dances, featuring dazzling costume changes between performances.

8:00 PM : Te Whare Haka o Narama
Experience the raw power of Maori culture with an awe-inspiring Kapa Haka performance that honours tradition through song, dance, and storytelling.

Roving Performers & Cultural Activities

5:00 PM - 8:00 PM: Maori Ink Stamps
Discover the beauty of Maori artistry with temporary ink stamps, featuring intricate designs inspired by sacred symbols and cultural storytelling.

5:00 PM - 9:00 PM: Cook Island Lei Making
Learn the traditional craft of lei making and create your own floral garland, a symbol of love, celebration, and connection to nature.

5:00 PM - 9:00 PM: Face Painting
Bring the little ones for fun and colourful face painting, adding an extra touch of magic to the night.

5:15 PM - 6:15 PM: Cook Island Drumming Workshop
Feel the heartbeat of the islands in this hands-on workshop, where you’ll learn the rhythms and techniques of traditional Cook Island log drumming.
