Sri Lankan funny man to host Sinhala & Tamil New Year at Queen Vic Market

Celebrating Sinhala & Tamil New Year Day a Sri Lankan Festival is coming back to the iconic Queen Victoria Market and it is bringing with it some laughs, great food and cultural experiences.
Winner of the 2018 Logie for Most Popular New Talent, the most sought after Sri Lankan born comedian in Australia, Dilruk Jayasinha will be hosting the Sri Lankan Festival Melbourne. Amongst his sure to be sold out Cheat Day(s) show at the Melbourne Comedy Festival, Dil is taking some time out and is looking forward to enjoying the community celebration that will bring together some of Sri Lanka’s favourite foods, cultural dance performances and musicians.
Festival director Himanshi Munshaw Luhar says “It’s so exciting when the community responds so well to our efforts of bringing these concepts to life. It will be a fantastic day out with lots of free activities, entertainment and most importantly amazing food!”
With performances by Sri Lankan favourite Don Sherman - The Singing Chef cooking up his chicken fried rice, with some dance moves and singing, to cultural dance performances by Tiya Dance Troupe and Shashilaa Dance Troupe and Theatre and music in Tamil, Hindi and English by Consonance Entertainment, the stage is going to be a very popular area.
No celebration is complete without food and with a mouthwatering line up including kottu roti, deviled chicken, hoppers and so much more from food trucks like Taka Taka and Lankan Feast to food stalls like Drums Cafe, Raw Sip, Babajis Kitchen and Kulfi Bar it will be a Sri Lankan flavour delight.
